What are the fees?
In some cases the fee for your anaesthetic services will only partially be covered by Medicare and your health fund. If there is an out of pocket expense my practice manager will contact you prior to your surgery/procedure with the fee. Please advise her if you hold a pension or concession card. If you are experiencing financial hardship please advise her and a payment plan can be organized.
If you are having cosmetic surgery then in the majority of cases Medicare and your health fund will not reimburse any portion of your anaesthetic fee.
Your anaesthetic fee is based upon but not limited to:
1. The complexity of your medical problems
2. The complexity and nuances of your surgery/procedure
3. The duration that you are required to be anaesthetized for
4. Whether special monitoring is required based upon your medical history or the surgery/procedure
5. Whether you require spinal anaesthesia, epidural, paravertebral block or regional anaesthesia as part of your pain management
In a minority of cases I may need to assess you in my rooms. If so, my practice manager will advise you of this and there will be a consultation fee which is partially rebatable from Medicare. Your health fund will not rebate any portion of this fee.
